1. Overview

NewFile is a local Mac menu bar utility that creates blank files—or copies of templates you add—in the current Finder folder. Templates and preferences stay on your Mac by default. We do not run a user account system and do not upload that content to our own servers.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

The App does not require an account with us. If you email us, we receive your address and message content.

2.2 Automatically collected information

  • By default, the App does not include third-party ads or cross-app tracking SDKs, and does not collect personally identifiable information for analytics.
  • Crash/performance: if you send feedback via Apple mechanisms, Apple processes diagnostics under its policies; we may only receive anonymized or voluntarily attached summaries.

2.3 On-device data and system capabilities

To provide file creation and template management, the App may store on-device: references or copies of custom templates, display names, keyboard shortcuts, and options such as launch at login.

When creating files, the App writes to the Finder folder you target. Template file contents are chosen by you; we do not upload template contents to our servers to provide this feature.

The App may request Finder / file-access related authorization as shown by macOS, solely to create files and manage templates you add.

2.4 Network

Core features work without connecting to our servers. The current version does not upload content to our backend for those features. If the App is distributed via the Mac App Store or offers in-app purchases later, payment and distribution are handled by Apple under its policies.

3. How we use information

We use information only to provide and improve NewFile, respond to support requests, and comply with law.

4. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We do not share your templates or local settings except as required by law, with bound providers for limited operations (e.g. email hosting), through Apple as distribution/payment platform, or in a merger/acquisition with notice. No first-party cloud hosting or sync in the current version.

5. Retention and security

You manage on-device data by deleting files or uninstalling the App. We apply reasonable measures to protect support-related information we may receive (e.g. email).

6. Children

The App is not directed at children. Contact us if you believe we processed children’s information in error.

7. Changes

We may update this Policy; material changes will be noted in-app, on the product page, or on our website.
